- Monitor Oral Health: Track the development of your child’s teeth and gums to ensure everything is on the right path.
- Prevent Cavities: Catch tooth decay early to avoid more serious dental problems down the road.
- Educate and Encourage: Teach kids the importance of brushing, flossing, and healthy eating habits for lifelong dental health.

Frequently Asked
Questions
As a rule of thumb, it’s time for a dental visit when your baby’s first tooth becomes visible or they reach 12 months old – whichever comes first. If you notice anything you think is out of the ordinary before this time, it’s better to book an appointment straight away.
Young children may feel more calm when they sit on their parent’s lap during their check-up, but as they get older we encourage parents to allow their children to go to dentist unaccompanied. We believe that this helps to foster independence and helps kids to feel more comfortable with dental care.
We may recommend fissure sealants as a preventive treatment if we notice deep grooves on your child’s teeth, where food and bacteria can easily get trapped and may be difficult to remove. Our dentists can apply fissure sealants to fill in these grooves and lower your child’s risk of dental problems. This treatment is minimally invasive and does not require any injections.
Just because primary teeth (baby teeth) are going to fall out eventually, that doesn’t mean they can be ignored! If any of these teeth experience decay or become infected, this may affect the development of the permanent tooth below, as well as causing pain and discomfort. Brushing their baby teeth every day will also get children used to taking care of their permanent teeth as they grow up.
We recommend that children visit the dentist every 6 months. This gives our paediatric dentists the chance to monitor their oral health and orthodontic development and to respond faster if we spot signs of a problem. However, the ideal time interval for appointments always depends on your child’s individual needs.
Yes. Modern dental X-rays are safe for children and adults as the amount of radiation involved is extremely low, and is equivalent to the sort of exposure you would receive on a 1-2 hour flight.
